Charity

Every year, the Grand River Model Horse Show chooses a beneficiary. Model horse shows are expensive to hold, but once all of the costs are covered, the remaining funds go to a local registered charity of our choice.

Our charity of choice for 2026 is LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society

We’re in this with you for the long run

When you adopt a retired thoroughbred racehorse through LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society, you are getting more than a horse. You’re getting an organization committed to your success in building a great relationship with your animal. We schedule regular updates in the first year to connect with you about care, retraining and more. We are always available to bounce ideas off, give advice and provide answers for you while you own the horse you adopted through LongRun.

How to Donate

Once the show breaks even, 100% of entries, raffle, silent auction items, and personal donations will be donated to LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society. A representative from LongRun may be in attendance to answer your questions about the organization and the excellent work that they do for OTTBs.
